Jesus Christ Superstar's legendary 1970s rock score was initially issued as a concept album and made its debut in 1971 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. It has since become a worldwide phenomenon, running for more than eight years in London. With over 3,358 performances by the time it closed, it was considered the longest-running musical in West End history at the time.

Originally debuting at London's renowned Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, the spectacle features lyrics and music by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Timothy Sheader is the show's director, while Drew McOnie is the ensemble's choreographer.

Likewise, the production will feature choreography by highly regarded Drew McOnie, musical direction by Tom Deering, designs by the visionary Tom Scutt, lighting designs by Lee Curran, and sound designs by Nick Lidster. Producer David Ian mentioned that he was thrilled to bring this production to life on tour. “Our team has created a fresh and bold new version of a beloved classic which will enthrall both longtime fans of the show and delight those seeing it for the very first time,” he continued.

The Broadway show’s narrative straightforwardly recounts The Passion of Jesus Christ, including the tribulations and uprising that resulted in his crucifixion. In contrast to other musical productions of the day, the composition was innovative and challengingly original, thanks to its ROCK OPERA design.

“Now, amidst many popular rock musicals like "Spring Awakening" and "American Idiot," this production straddles the line between being faithful to the original material and finding timely relevance,” the State Press shares about the live performance.

Catch the comeback of Jesus Christ Superstar and bring your friends to watch the Broadway performance that won an Olivier Award for “Best Musical Revival” in 2017 and the 2016 London Theater Award for “Best Musical.” Purchase your tickets now and be part of this extraordinary theatrical experience this October!
